Elizabeth Reaser, an American actor on film, TV and stage, is most well-known for her roles in The Twilight Saga as well as series like Greys Anatomy or True Detective. The producers were interested in whether she was able to do sword fighting, and the next day she uploaded a video of the sword fight she was doing. Jessica read the script, and was aware that the character would need weapons training. Her first video was recorded session with a professional after having read the script. Jonathan Glassner says that her stunt crew were astonished by how well she did in her first lesson. The Outpost was her first big role in the US since her prior films were filmed in Australia. Jessica is able to fully portray her powerful female character due to her enthusiasm for action, mixed martial arts expertise as well as her horse riding, weapons and firearms skills, in addition to her athletic abilities. Jessica has learned to box, learn muay Thai as well as trains at a mixed martial arts gym in Australia. Jake Stormoen came across a wandering pet during making Season 4.
